paying it forward!
Youth on the Move encourages parents and family members to volunteer whenever possible. You may not see your bank account grow or your job title change, but you WILL find your heart swelling with pride when that young kid you taught to hold a bat hits his first homer, or that shy teenager you gave confidence to get his or her first college acceptance.
When you volunteer at Youth On The Move in the Community (YOTM) you are helping Harlem’s youth build strong athletic, academic, and communication skills. You are helping Harlem’s youth develop a lifestyle that embraces learning and exploration!
All you need is time, flexibility, and a passion for working with children. Whether you have a full evening or just one hour, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer with YOTM:
- Mentoring: facilitate small group discussions, be a listening ear
- Study Buddy Program: tutoring, reading partner, homework helper, intro to computer science
- Community Health & Wellness Education: create healthy snacks, make healthy decisions
- Community Escort: walk children from school to the center, chaperone special outings
- Athletics: cheer the team, encourage players, support fundraising efforts, assist with field prep for home games
